Safepak Kenya

SUSTAINABILITY

The Problem Is Waste, Not Packaging

Plastic protects food, medicine and water better, and with less material, than any alternative available to us. What the world has failed to manage is what happens after use. Safepak designs, manufactures and participates on the right side of that distinction.
Our Commitment

Environmentally Responsible Packaging

Sustainability is one of the four pillars Safepak is built on, and we apply it where it counts — at the point a pack is designed. Every new format is assessed on the material it uses, whether it can be recycled, and what becomes of it once it leaves the shelf. Decisions taken at the drawing board determine environmental outcomes years later. That is where we take them.

Built In

Three active initiatives

Today

Registered EPR producer

PAKPRO

In operation today

Three initiatives, not pledges.

Lightweighting

Continuous engineering across bottles, preforms, jars, jerrycans and closures — less resin in every unit, with no loss of strength. Our necks and closures today are around half the weight of 1990s designs.

rPET & Recycled Content

Recycled PET running in production across multiple formats, on projects with multinational customers including Unilever and [CONFIRM: L’Oréal]. Our production is validated for recycled content up to 100% where a customer or a regulation requires it.

PAKPRO Membership

A registered member of PAKPRO, a licensed Producer Responsibility Organisation, contributing to nationwide packaging collection and recycling under Kenya’s Sustainable Waste Management Act, 2022.

What this means for you

Sustainability that works in your favour.

Lighter packaging

Less material in every unit, and a lower cost and carbon footprint that carries through to your product.

Recycled content on request

Met to your specification, whatever your own sustainability commitments require.

EPR obligations covered at source

Buying from a registered producer means your packaging is accounted for from the first unit placed on the market.
